たとえる【例える･譬える･喩える】

〔なぞらえる〕 compare 《to…》; liken 《to…》; 〔比喩を用いる〕 use a simile [metaphor]; speak figuratively [metaphorically]; 〔寓話化する〕 allegorize.

●眠りを死にたとえる compare sleep to death; liken sleep to death; use death as a simile [metaphor] for sleep

・たとえようもない美しさ incomparable beauty

・何にもたとえようがない there is nothing to compare to 《it》; be incomparable [incomparably 《fine》]; beggar description; be indescribable; 《文》 be beyond [past, without] compare
